Kar
Mun Kong , a native of Perak, Malaysia studied at University of Malaya
under tutelage of Miss Choi Hee-Jung. Kar Mun was awarded a Bachelor of
Perfoming Arts (Music) with first class honours. Her passion towards
music led her to continue postgraduate studies and had been offered
scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies in both Royal Welsh College
of Music and Drama and Birmingham Conservatoire. Kar Mun chose to
continue her postgraduate in Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and
currently pursuing her Master Degree under scholarship majoring in Piano
Accompaniment at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, UK,
studying under Zoe Smith.
Doing her degree studies, Kar Mun was an active performer and
accompanist. She has been an active participant of University's music
showcase, performing regularly as a soloist and chamber musician. She is
the accompanist for faculty's choir and accompanies students across the
departments. Kar Mun accompanies a broad range of repertoire for both
singers and instrumentalist. Her passion towards dance led her to become
an accompanist for a dance studio and accompanied for the Royal Academy
of Dance, graded ballet exam. She had given recitals and accompanies in
various recital hall, which include Experimental Theatre of University
of Malaya, Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra, St.Davids Hall, Wales
Millennium Centre and more.
Kar Mun was the first prize winner of piano solo in The
Malaysian Youth Music Festival 2013. She was awarded a Licentiate (LTCL)
with distinction in performance from Trinity College London in 2013. A
certificate of excellence was awarded to her during the Trinity Awards
and Concert 2014 prior to her outstanding achievement in
the LTCL performance. She was given an opportunity to perform during the
award concert. Besides majoring in piano, Kar Mun developed a great
interest in violin playing and ballet. She obtained a Grade 8 in violin
from Associated Board of Royal School of Music and a Grade 8 in ballet
from the Royal Academy of Dance
